Personally, I prefer the "Sir -name-" as a translation because using Japanese honorifics with non-Japanese characters in a non-Japanese setting just strikes me as wrong. That's not to say you can't do it, I just don't think it properly fits the context. (but that may just be me, I know I am little picky than most; I am studying English to be an author)
I always thought it was an interesting name, and I'd love to hear any theories you may have; crack or not.
