The Two Greatest Guilty Gear Crossovers I May Never Write

Guilty Gear may not be the best series out there for crossovers, but there are a couple of other neat series out there I’ve been following which can be validly crossed over with anything, and Guilty Gear can’t even pretend to be an exception. >D

Kingdom Hearts/Guilty Gear – It’s all about buckles and belts (and gay)

(Thinking back through this one, I haven’t wound up describing how the fic would work so much as explaining how the fully realized world in KH2 would have worked. Though this may not be so much a bad thing.)

Naturally, the GG/KH crossover would be set during the Holy War, partially because that seems to be where I default to, but mostly because that would be the best place to have a small army of Heartless show up without being too conspicuous. Gear!Heartless wouldn’t need to be very different to regular gears, apart from that conspicuous emblem. That and the bit where the Heartless variety multiply that much faster on account of being able to convert regular humans pretty much on the spot. So when the Holy Order finds out about this worrying new kind of gear on the loose, we can safely say it’s going to be taken as Bad News.

This would be the part when Sora and co. come charging in, keyblades a’swinging. And this is the real beauty of this – Sora would fit right in. His dress sense is no weirder than anything else you’d see in the Guilty Gear universe, and a teenaged boy who uses a giant, magical key as a weapon probably wouldn’t even get a second look (as for Donald and Goofy – well, it’s not like anyone ever notices them anyway). Ky would have to be the one to join your party for that world (can we picture how cool their combo move would be yet? I think we can ^_^), since he’s the more social of the main characters, plus, I have this suspicion that trying to force Sol and Sora’s mindsets to coexist for very long might result in something nasty like the universe imploding. Sol could still be around though, probably running around in the background, ignoring orders and leaping in now and then to take down some giant Heartless O’Doom that had been wiping the floor with you up to that point, look cool and take off again before Ky could yell at him too much.

Anyway, you’d meet Ky out on the battlefield, under surprise attack by a batch of Gear!Heartless and just about ready to really appreciate someone like Sora showing up to bail him out. Sora and Ky would hit it off in no time, because Sora gets on with everyone and Ky wouldn’t question the help of such a friendly young man with such excellent combat skills and all that useful information on that new Heartless problem they were dealing with (even if Sora was being a bit ambiguous about where that info came from). Actually, back in the war period Sora and Ky would only need be about a year apart age wise, and the Holy Order sure doesn’t seem to have any problem with recruiting fifteen year olds. (And this has just sent me off on a fun little tangent imagining Sora in the Order uniform, but knowing our luck this would probably turn out to be one of those worlds where the designers get all slack and don’t give us a new costume. Besides, going by the few pics out there, not many Order soldiers apart from Ky and Sol actually seem to wear the uniform anyway. :/ )

Sol – when you finally catch up with him long enough to say hi – would have to take a much dimmer view of Sora. Even if having to deal with another kid out on the battlefield wasn’t bad enough, he’d be suspicious right away about this kid who just happened to show up around the same time as the Gear!Heartless. He may well even be one of those rare characters you find scattered around the KH2 worlds who have some idea there are other worlds out there and know how to spot a visitor from elsewhere. In the few scenes where Sol would actually be on screen with the rest of you long enough for a conversation, this would lead to some loud arguments, and end with him nicking off again and telling the rest of you to stay out of thing (as per usual).

Eventually, it’d turn out that letting the Heartless into that world was something I-no had done because she was bored again. In the interests of letting me at least pretend this fits into GG canon somewhere, Ky would either have to see very little of her or have his memory wiped again at the end (…let’s say preferably the former). If we’ve really got to suffer through letting Pete into this particular world, at least we’d have the satisfaction of seeing I-no double cross him at the end and nick off. You wouldn’t get to fight her much if at all, so the final boss would be some kind of generic Heartless-Megadeath Gear-type thing. And if you’re lucky, maybe while you’re busy with it, Sol would go beat up I-no a bit himself somewhere not too far away enough to make sure she stayed out of the Order’s hair for a while.

Sadly, I think the Guilty Gear world would test even Sora’s ability to leave happy, romantic endings in his wake. But Sora would get to leave with this weird new chunky keyblade that was taller than he was, and kept asking him where A.B.A. had gone.

…actually, now I think of it, Sora having to deal with I-no in one of her flirtier moods could be pretty good value too.

Realistic prospects of being written: Trying to write the whole story would be overkill (I just finished Catalyst, I’m not doing that again yet). But I’m sure I could put together a scene or two – I do have got this history of KH2 crossovers to keep up.

Doctor Who/Guilty Gear: Wait, you mean there are characters other than Sol and Ky in this universe?

Like Kingdom Hearts, the nice thing about of writing for the Doctor is that you can land him just about anywhere and he’ll settle in and start ordering people around pretty quick. However, the real beauty of a Guilty Gear crossover comes from just one character by the name of Axl Low.

Not everyone would spot the resemblance between Axl Low and the Doctor from a distance, but the key points here go as follows: they’re both time travelers and they’re both (arguably) British. They’ve also both got less than perfect records of knowing where they’re going to wind up next. Not the longest list, but we’re talking defining characteristics here, and just how many frequently lost, British time travelers are there out there in fiction? I’m thinking not that many. They’re bound to have run into each other somewhere along their way. There’s got to be plenty you could do with the two of them in a crossover.

I only wish I could figure out what.

Realistic prospects of being written: If I ever get past the part of figuring out just what I’m writing, I should probably be aiming for something short. Though I am possibly too amused by the image of the current Doctor explaining to Martha how the magic of the Guilty Gear period works with his usual technobabble. And I’m sure the phrase “Not you again!” would have to come into it somewhere.

The third of the series I’m known to maybe-write-the-occasional-fic for which can be crossed over with anything you like would be Tsubasa/xxxHOLiC multiverse, but there even my imagination appears to have given out.

Dr Who/GG: I got two words for ya that would make that even more awesome - Darlek Gears.

...now there even my imagination fears to tread. XD

Oh oh oh and forget Robo Ky, how about Cyberman Ky?!! Huh huh?!!

o_O Cybermen in a wig and a uniform?

I never thought I'd say this about Robo-Ky, but he's already got way better dialogue. Anyway, the daleks would still pwn Cyberman!Robo-Ky, gear version or otherwise!
