Unfinished fic meme and blather
If the last few months of posts weren't proof enough, I've been writing rather a lot lately.
A few things which turned up while writing for Discworld or CLAMP recently:
1. When writing dialogue for the Discworld Death, one always writes in ALL CAPS. If one is typing, one write in ALL CAPS. If one is writing by hand, one writes in ALL CAPS. If one has had a flash of inspiration and is scribbling the idea on the margin of a page full of something else, one still writes in ALL CAPS. You’re just not writing for Death otherwise, y’know?
2. When writing for Granny Weatherwax, no matter how hard you’re trying to save paper, one does not turn the page over and scribble an idea for a slash fic on the back. She is quite definitely not having with any of that, thankyouverymuch. One also does not get much of anything else written until the fic with her in it is done.
3. On that note, the universe should be very glad Nanny Ogg has never discovered slash fiction. Because she would love it. And worse, she would start writing her own, very probably staring various Discworld folk heroes (and considering how powerful stories are in a place like Discworld, I don’t even want to imagine where that would lead). And then she’d make her poor relatives beta it for her, and it would all be so eye-bleedingly awful that a lot of them would wind up gouging out their own eyes. The universe should consider itself lucky, seriously.
4. If this wasn’t clear from the previous... it seems xxxHolic has found a way to make me write slash fic. ^^;;; Ah well, it was probably bound to happen sooner or later. Power may corrupt, but it’s got nothing on a couple of years in fandom.
In related news, I sat down earlier and made a list of everything I've got in the to-do pile right now. It's long. Okay, it's always long, but the surprising part is I think there's actually a decent chance most of it will get done within a few months.
So it looked like it was time to dredge out that old unfinished-fic-meme, even if this is going to be mostly for my own reference:
The ones I’m working on now (xxxHolic, Discworld, Tsubasa, Kingdom Hearts)
Discworld/xxxHolic: The one with Yuuko and Granny Weatherwax
Done! Just waiting for my beta reader to get back to me.
It has been said that the basic classes of witch may be divided into the maiden, the mother and the… the other one (sometimes described as the crone, though only when the crone herself is well out of hearing). However, a number of less traditionally bent cultures find the ‘other one’ not photogenic enough for their purposes and tend to replace her with… well, the other other one; who tends to be a good deal younger, show a lot more leg and possess a body made of curves of a distracting variety. There are various words for her too – and only some of them politer than ‘crone’, although the implied insult in most is of a more behavioural nature. It was a specimen of this extra class whom Granny Weatherwax was meeting with now.

Also done! Probably will be in need of some serious betaing before it gets posted though.
When they arrived, Traverse Town was little more than a firm place to stand in the endless nothing of the cosmos. The world was so small it had edges, the sort you could have walked to and looked right off, no more than fifty paces away in any direction. Nevertheless, it was somewhere to land long enough for Cid to figure out which part of the engine was making all that noise, and they weren’t in any position to be particular. Flying most certainly did not agree with Yuffie, for one, who woke up a short while before they landed looking rather green. The moment they touched down she half fell through the hatch and actually hugged the ground.
Discworld/xxxHolic: Sequel to Just Another Tuesday
Mostly done – beginning, middle and end and all that – but still needs some work to fill in all the gaps. For an extract, see here.
Tsubasa Five Things Meme
As in “Five things Syaoran never quite got the hang of” and “Five things Mokona isn’t scared of”. One for each of the Tsubasa leads, really just needs typing up and posting, but they’re all so short posting a quote seems a bit pointless.

It wouldn’t be wrong to say this one looks like one big KH-based Cloud/Aeris fic. Though Tifa gets a look in too. And once you’ve let Yuffie have a line or two, you don’t get rid of her again.
Someone behind Cloud whistled appreciatively. “Hey Squall! The new guy killed more Heartless than you!”
“It’s Leon.”
“Well, the new guy killed more Heartless than him too!”
“…”
xxxHolic: The One With The Donuts XD
Still needs a title. And to be typed up and all. Extract is short, but I don't think it needs to be longer.
Extenuating circumstances, spirits, what-have-you be damned, this was all Doumeki’s fault.
The ones I’m going to work on just as soon as I clear that list a little (Kingdom Hearts, Tsubasa, Full Metal Alchemist, Final Fantasy VII, more xxxHolic)

Basically will be KH1 from the Traverse Town’s crew’s perspective, by this stage. Still needs a lot of stuff filled in, but it’s off to a good start.
“It is very strange.” Aerith agreed. “There’s never been so many Heartless here at once before. It’s almost as though there’s something attracting them here.”
Cid’s eyes widened. “It’s getting that bad? Shit, hope that new kid’s alright, he only wandered in here this morning.”
Cid suddenly found himself the recipient of three very intense stares.
Tsubasa/Full Metal Alchemist Crossover
The idea of putting Syaoran and Ed in one place was too good to pass up. Gonna be long, this one. Has a plot and everything. Seriously.
“Looking for a room?”
“Not exactly, we were hoping you could help find a couple of guests you might have here.” Fye told the innkeeper. “There’s a tall one who wears a suit of armour, and a short one who…”
“WHO ARE YOU CALLING SO SMALL YOU CAN’T FIND HIM IN A TOWN THE SIZE OF A THIMBLE?!”
“…ah, nevermind, we seem to have found them.”
FFVII: Yuffie fic
Pretty much sponged off the scene where she joins your party. Only expanded, and with some space added for the rest of the part to go WTF?
“What's the matter?” The ninja snapped at him. “You're pretty scared of me, huh!?”
“…petrified.” Cloud assured her, in a voice which broke into new territory in the field of deadpan.
xxxHolic future fic
I’m not all that personally convinced by the ‘Watanuki inherits the shop’ theory, but it sounded like it could be fun to play with.
Doumeki takes a moment to study the picture on the front of the postcard from Yuuko. Judging by the text, it's been sent from inside Japan, but… “Fairy Park? I’ve never heard of it.”
“Of course you wouldn’t have, it’s a whole dimension away.” Watanuki told him. “Yuuko’s really enjoying all her new free time.”
The ones I haven’t touched in ages but still sort of plan to get back to (Naruto, more Kingdom Hearts, more FFVII, Original)
Naruto: Sakura and Tsunade
Three-year timeskip-fic. Because there’s all that space, and there had to be something more to say about it.
The Other Kingdom Hearts One
In which Sora’s part of KH1 would be told from Kairi’s perspective, and Sora’s part of KH2 would be told from Roxas’ perspective. Do the math.
The Obligatory Organisation 13 fic
Would probably have been jossed sky-high when Final Mix comes out if I wrote it now anyway. It can wait.
FFVII: Tifa fic
…I don’t even want to think about how old this one is now, but I think I might get back to it eventually. It had a scene with Cloud and Zack in it, how long can I resist that?

Gonna have ghosts in it, and people being reasonable about them. Not really much more of it there yet.

It will get written, damnit! It will!
That's sixteen different projects. Gonna be busy for a while over here.
