Title: The Medium-Sized Merman
Summary: You know the story - there's a handsome prince, an unfortunate shipwreck, and old sea-witch, and a lovesick mer-something. The rest may all be excused as interpretation.

Notes: Right. Er. I made most of my excuses for this one back when I posted that first random scene (now all betaed and reposted as the second part of this chapter), so repeating them all here may look a little sad. But I should admit up front that this was at least semi-inspired by this fandom's other Little Mermaid AU The Little Merpool, and that really I wouldn't have bothered with it at all had the former not left me with so many ideas for other things that could be done with the same basic concept had it taken off in a completely tangential direction. Like, for example, the possibility of mashing up the idea with any of the various mythologies that portray mermen as rather more humanoid and/or much less attractive than their feminine counterparts - and, if that's not a Deadpool story, I don't know what is.
I should also admit up front that I have no idea if there is likely to be more of this. I'm not even entirely certain if this is part one - but if not, I promise to follow standard Marvel procedure of numbering previous chapters with zeros, decimals, or negative numbers, or something similarly engineered to remove all possible confusion.
