Lisa's got the videos she took at [livejournal.com profile] cescat and [livejournal.com profile] nekomiao's party uploaded to youtube. Watch as Yuffie takes on Sora and Zell takes on Squall at DDR!

Speaking of the party, just about everyone would have already seen this thing for real there, but I like cataloguing my cosplay props up here, so here are a couple of photos of the Princess Guard staff.

I actually started this thing as a practice project way back while I was making the conformer, but I ran out of time to finish it (which in retrospect is probably a good thing, since the plastic I was using at the time was much less well suited to this kind of work than what I've got now). I've always meant to get around to finishing it to complete our set of final weapons for the FFVII girls, and a Christmas/birthday present for the ever wonderful [livejournal.com profile] cescat was just the excuse I needed. The staff was made from a piece of plastic piping picked up at Bunnings, the gold part was made from a foam core board covered with sheet plastic. The red stone is a giant bead I found in a shop in Fremantle, and the spike on the top - as several people correctly guessed - was made from a golf tee. Getting the paint job (relatively) neat was a lot harder than it probably should have been, but at least I've now got a long list of things not to do in future.

In other cosplay news, we went out looking at overlockers again yesterday. We were originally looking for something in the $500 range, but when we arrived at the shop it turned out that everything was on sale because they were just in the process of moving, and the model we'd been looking at was reduced to $350. No prizes for guessing how fast we jumped on that. So, in short: we now own an overlocker! Now all we have to do is figure out how to thread the thing and get it to work.

One last question: can anyone give any advice on converting Australian to US shoe sizes? I need to order some boots over ebay for my River costume, and there are dozens of sites out there which claim to tell you how to convert between the systems, but no two of them agree.

ooer @ the staff, looks mint-as :)
in regards to the shoe sizes, i had a quick look around on google and just got confused by most of the US/Inches bs, but this http://shoes.about.com/od/fitcomfort/a/wintshoesize.htm chart seems to match up to most, and is relativly easy to use (although if you need bigger than an women's 8.5 AUS its not on the chart), just find the AUS size you are and look in the same row, but the US column

worst comes to worst, can always ask a shoe store :/
hope that helps :)

My problem is that I've already found half a dozen pages like that one, but they variously say I should take anything from about a size 6 to about an 8.5 and everything in between. My best guess right now is that shoe sizes in any country just aren't that consistent - and I don't think I'd count on most Australian shoe stores knowing much about American sizes either. Makes ordering shoes in that much harder. -_-
