Doubly in this world, because so many of the people who he's ever lived with before were killed off by some other gang whether he liked them or not. *cough* But there will be a bit more said about that side of his history in parts somewhere later on.
That sounds like the thought process of a Watanuki who'd have been in contact with Yuuko for a long, long time. Or one who's spent many hours laying awake and wondering what sort of system the world has, that it turns against him all the time.
Far more the second in this world, unfortunately. He has great difficulty with the idea anyone gets anything worth having for nothing. Some of his entanglements with the nastier class of spirits (and much like the one he was just dealing with) would only have reinforced that view.
