Okay, I agree with what everyone else has said so far, but I had this question.
Are they living anywhere remotely close to New York City? Because I know of the PERFECT PLACE where Watanuki and Doumeki may have wondered off to to find his glasses. The Lexington Passage in Grand Central Terminal has an optical place (http://grandcentralterminal.com/pages/getpage.aspx?id=19A843DD-1BFE-418C-8A3C-89CD8E205D2B) (really swanky glasses shop) as well as tons of other stores for really rich impulse shoppers on their daily commute. XD Now, it isn't underground (not that part anyway, but it would make sense if it was buried or sunken in.
