It really reinforced the fact that the whole thing happened from Neku's POV, because sometimes life is idiotic and crazy like that and will throw you curveballs around your head.
I think I could agree with that if it'd happened halfway through the game and had been followed up on. Having it come out of the blue up at the very end just made it feel rushed and incomplete - like we should have been starting a new chapter rather than starting the ending sequence. (And in a sense I guess we *were* because it was all to make you go find the noise reports so you could find out what the hell you were supposed to have thought was going on the whole game, which was pretty inelegant in itself.) I've come up with some personal theories that have made me feel happier about it since, but it's still a bit of a sticking point for me. ^^;
Haha, clearly I will make video games that will annoy the hell out of everyone who plays them. =D
