In case any of you haven't already seen them, Lisa's doing a special series of pics for Christmas, "The 12 Days of Fandom". I don't know what's been more fun so far - throwing around ideas for all of these or boggling as what is basically a series of coloured speed sketches gets more attention than anything she's ever posted online before.

Mind you, tracking down reference pics has turned up a few gems too:

So apparently, the Naruto/Sasuke kiss scene from episode 3 was edited out of the Naruto dub. Not a great surprise, though really (and for anyone who hasn't seen it or doesn't really remember the incident in question) it was all an accident - they were *knocked* into each other, all very amusing, blahblahblahblah. And while fandom can argue about slashy subtext until we're all blue in the face, it was such an obviously slapstick moment that the idea of it being judged offensive boggles the brain.

But that's not actually the best part. Y'see, the kiss scene pops up in a flashbacks throughout most of the rest of the series, the first being in the last episode they've shown. This time, for reasons I'm sure we'll never be able to adequately explain, it *wasn't* editted out.

Now just stop and think about that for a moment. Thanks to their little snafu, thousands of young Naruto fans across America have just seen a flashback to a Naruto/Sasuke kiss that they won't remember, and won't have any kind of context to explain.

If anyone wants me, I will be putting the ROFL acronym into practice on my bedroom floor, because that? Will not stop being funny for a good long while.

^^; It always amazes me how many people don't realise. Guess I've never quite gotten used to the fact we don't look so much like each other as we did when we were younger.

We're planning on doing them all as a set of Christmas cards when they're done. Sadly, it'll be a little late for Christmas this year, but we're planning to have a pile printed out for Wai-con 2006.
