The D. Brothers Flashback Arc

rallamajoopFor once, I have nothing of much substance to say about heart-wrenchingly adorkable wonderfulness that is the D brothers flashback arc. All I've got is a bucket full of unadulterated squee and a sudden desire to go back and rewatch Ace and Luffy's Alabasta reunion with new eyes.
That and a brain that got itself so stuck on they call themselves ASL? that now I have this terrible need to go find fanfic in which Ace, Luffy and Sabo all met as undersupervised pre-teens in an IRC chatroom, presumably sometime back in the mid-nineties when that old acronym was still in vogue. Like all the best crack AU ideas this makes far more sense than it has any right to, especially given that young Luffy and Ace had exactly the sort of manners you'd expect from kids who meet on the Internet, and 'undersupervised' could just about summarise their entire childhoods. Naturally Sabo would be sneaking into chatrooms while he was supposed to be studying, as it would be his only way of making friends with anyone his parents didn't approve of.And then they'd all wind up playing Sburb oh goddamnit brain!
But seriously, they'd be perfect player material, from the attitudes to the capacity for badassery all the way to the question of whether they're actually related or not. If only there was an even number of these brats. Like, even if I throw in the Straw Hats I am stuck with 11. :( Now I'm going to spend the rest of the day trying to decide who'd be a Prospit dreamer and who'd be Derse.
In unrelated news, an actual conversation I had with my sister:
Me: I can't help but be amused that after abandoning Luffy as a kid, Dragon would seem to have inadvertently adopted Sabo.
Her: IKR?
Me: Years later, they will meet up again and Sabo will be like, "Yeah, being brought up by your Dad? Seriously, you didn't miss much."
Me: "Also, I spent like half my childhood being a girl."
Me: "...It was kind of odd."
Her: I would love it so much if when we finally meet Sabo again, he's a girl.
Me: OMGYes! :DDD
Me: IT COULD ACTUALLY HAPPEN!
Me: God I love this show.
One Piece, ladies and gentleman. Nothing you could ever come up with in fanfic could be any weirder than what already goes down in canon. :3
