rallamajoopYou know those fic requests memes you see floating around on LJ. They generally say something along the lines of:
"Give me a character / pairing and / or a short prompt / outline of a scene / crossover idea / a summary of a giant epic / your favourite cliché / a fic I’ve written before / some other prompt-ish thing, and I’ll write you a sentence / drabble / ficlet / list of five (or more) things / first part of the story / last part of the story / sequel / missing scene / alternate version / whatever."
I always wanted to try one, but now that I finally feel like it’s a decent time for me to try it, I’m having trouble picking one out of so many different variations. So instead I’m going to say: send me a prompt of any kind or combination in that list (or any other kind you can think of, really) and I’ll see what I can do about coming up with something to go with it.
I’ll probably be aiming for something sentence to drabble length, but since this is my first go at anything remotely request meme-ish, the basic plan is to just see what comes to me. Obviously, I can’t make any promises that I’ll necessarily come up with something for any possible request, but I’m happy to have pretty much anyone show up to request whatever – although I will warn people that prompts involving smut or particularly weird pairings are most likely to result in me staring at the screen feeling embarrassed for a bit, and then going to work on something else.

They said you’d be expecting them,” Ed announced, which was a simplified way of saying that he’d found them both in a broom closet, and neither had yet been able to offer him any sort of satisfactory explanation for how they’d gotten there, or even how they’d gotten into the building at all.
Roy said, “Huah?” with the look of a man trying to hide the fact he’d been asleep on his desk behind the guise of some seriously intense concentration on some very important papers. Consequently, he missed the spectacle of Watanuki very shifting gears from ‘about to bite of Doumeki’s head’ to ‘ready to deal with strangers in a polite, suitably self-deprecating manner’ so fast you could practically hear them screech.
Ed shot two looks at different parts of the room. The one Watanuki got said ‘he sure doesn’t look like he’s expecting anyone to me’. The one Roy got said ‘the thought I have ever owed you anything is a source of so much embarrassment that I’ll be taking it to my grave’.
“He wouldn’t be expecting us exactly,” Watanuki clarified quickly, “but Yuuko said you’d recognize her name. We’re actually here to collect…”
“Ah, a messenger boy from the estimable Ichihara Yuuko!” Roy declared without before Watanuki could finish. “And what service might I perform for her today?”
“Who are you calling her messenger boy?” Watanuki snapped before remembering which gear he was supposed to be in.
And from here on, the conversation got hectic very quickly.

“And how is the fine Mistress Yuuko?” said Roy, quite accidentally cutting Watanuki off before he could finish what he was about to say. “Still as beautiful as ever?”
“Wait,” said Ed, in mounting horror, “you mean this is all because of something with you and one of those women?”
“What would you prefer as a job description?” said Doumeki. “House boy, maybe? Cleaning lady?”
Roy refused to look remotely chastised. “Life becomes very dull when one can’t mix some pleasure in with matters of business.”
“Cleaning what?" Watanuki blurted. "That was not an invitation for you to come up with something worse!”
“Spirit-bait would fit too.”
“REALLY, YOU CAN SHUT UP ANY TIME NOW AND THAT WILL BE FINE.”
“That’s you’re explanation for why there are people like them sneaking into the building? Because of something with one of your girlfriends?!” Ed demanded.
“Ah, Fullmetal, you’re still far too childish to appreciate the charms of a mature woman.”
“What part of Yuuko are you saying is mature?”
“He was talking to the short guy, not you,” Doumeki reminded his partner.
“WHO ARE YOU CALLING SO SMALL EVERYONE FORGOT HE WAS EVEN IN THE ROOM!?”
“I didn’t say that.”
“Can anyone ever remember what we’re doing here anymore?” Watanuki yelled desperately. It was a reasonably good attempt at getting the situation back on track again, all told, but it would be horribly misleading for us to suggest to the audience that it came anywhere close to working.
To cut a long yelling match short, Watanuki eventually stormed out, with Doumeki following, having forgotten all about whatever price it was he was supposed to have collected from Roy for his employer; Ed wound up distracted and angry enough that he forgot all about two extra-dimensional schoolboys appearing out of the blue in the middle of a military installation and had to be sent somewhere quiet to cool off for a bit, and Roy returned to be pretending to be very busy with all that paperwork.
But you can bet that just as soon as Yuuko founds out Watanuki didn’t bring back whatever it was Roy had owed her, it was all going to happen all over again.
(Can’t really speak for the ‘vs’ from your request, since I don’t think either pair won, but it’s safe to say Watanuki and Ed both lost miserably XD)

“Wah! Super Saiyajin?” Son Goku exclaimed in a high pitched shriek.
“I what?” said Sora.
“You! Right then! Your hair went gold just like mine does when I’m Super Saiyajin,” said Goku, still staring at him excitedly.
“He always said his name was Roxas,” said Sora vaguely. “What’s this super-saiya-thing?”
Goku demonstrated. Sora said “Wow!” and “Cool!” and then asked politely for a hand down from where he’d landed after the shockwave hit him.
“So, is that what I do too when I turn into Roxas?” Sora wondered once back on his feet. “How does it work?”
Goku made an expression that meant that a number of parts of his brain that didn’t get out much had had to be woken up to deal with the question. “Ummm.... you get angry first.”
“Yeah, Roxas often is kinda grumpy,” Sora agreed.
“And then you get a lot stronger.”
“He’s not that much stronger than me… though he can do that thing with the two keyblades that I never got the hang of. I have to Drive or ask Riku if I can borrow his to get it to work, and he always gets all weird about me doing that.”
“And you hair goes all gold and stuff,” Goku concluded.
“Hey, just like Roxas’ is! So I am going Super Saiyajin! Does that mean I’m really a Saiyajin too? …Oh, and Kairi! Her hair goes blonde when she’s Naminé too! That must mean she’s one as well! And…”
There was a sensation in Sora’s head like someone trying to drag him away by the ear. You, Roxas informed him, are embarrassing both of us. Now let’s get off this world before any more of those android Heartless show up.

Date: 2007-01-21 11:28 am (UTC)I’ve already had one FMA/xxxHOLiC crossover requested in this round, so I’ll leave Roy and Yuuko (although, I will say that, if I could write anything with them in it after that, it would not involve Roy’s wish – it would be Roy and Yuuko meeting and being all smug and horrible and flirting shamelessly, until Ed and/or Watanuki were about ready to throw up in the a corner). Kurama though – now that works nicely. After all, back at the time when he had his first appearance in the series, he did have a wish of his own:
“No,” said the witch, “you misunderstand me. That wish is not something I can grant you.”
“Why not?” asked Kurama, carefully civil enough that the question remained just on the safe side of a demand. “With all the stories of your shop, I can’t believe that saving my mother’s life is beyond your power.”
“Not beyond my power. But the price of such a wish is beyond anything you could give me.”
“There’s nothing I could offer you?”
“Nothing in your possession. Nor anything you could obtain for me.”
Kurama hesitated. He was a natural born tactician, one who could think himself through the eye of a needle in the midst of combat – one for whom the sacrifice that would let him win this bout was right there for him to see. But what he was about to offer was not something that should be thrown away without thought.
Kurama let his eyes drift shut.
“My life,” he said, in a voice controlled to within an inch of its being. “If that is what it takes to save her, I am prepared… no.” The look in Kurama’s eyes when he opened them once more, gaze holding firm, was that of one who has forgotten all regrets. “I will be proud to give that in exchange.”
“I am sorry,” said Yuuko, sadly, “but that is not something I can accept from you.”
“But surely that must be worth enough…!”
“It is worth far too much. Even in this human form, the life of one of your immortal kind for an ailing human woman is no fair trade. Such a life is far more than I am authorized to accept from anyone.”
Again, Kurama’s face fell. “Then there is no way to save her?”
“Not by my intervention, I fear. However,” added Yuuko, in a voice that promised not new hope but greater trials for less reward, “there is another thing which you can afford to ask of me. Something which may allow you to achieve that wish by your own means.”
No price mattered to Kurama any longer. “Tell me.”
“I can tell you of someone – or something – which will be pleased to accept the price you offered me in exchange for granting that wish for you.”
(Sorry this took so long to be posted - I managed to forget how little free time I was going to have this weekend before I started)
