rallamajoopIf we're going to be cosplaying this series we should knw a bit about it, right? So off I go into the great wide web to see what I can learn.
Some early impressions:
1. There is a woeful lack of material relating to this game out there on the web. WOEFUL.
2. We spent a chunk of last night going through character sprites with![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
nekomiao and cescat and spotting masses of details neither of them knew about. Seriously, if there's anyone else left who hasn't downloaded one of those complete zip files of sprites (here or here), you're bound to be missing out on some really great reference material.
3. Speaking of references,twinkl33, a little bird told me something about a CD full of pics which you might be able to lend out? =D
4. Tesuya Nomura and Daisuke Ishiwatari are in fact identical twins separated at birth. How else are we to explain how there are *two* game developers in the same country who have the same fetish for completely illogical buckles, suspiciously dressed females and gay subtext which in no way deserves the 'sub' part? Now we just need to figure out which one the evil twin is, and what terrible calamity will befall the world should they ever come into contact.
5. There are, as far as I have found, seven GG drama CDs in three sets. The latest set looks to be focused around the assassin's guild - ie, Millia. Guess which are the only ones I can't find scripts or mp3s for? ><
6. Speaking of those drama CDs, going by Venom's role in them, I have had to conclude that any time another character uses an instant kill attack on him, instead of performing their usual attack, there should be an alternate sequence in which they yell "Look! It's Zato!", causing Venom to squeal happily, turn and run off screen (or, depending who he's fighting, get stabbed in the back while he's looking the other way). This would be only be funnier if he was actually fighting Zato at the time.
7. Speaking of drama CDs again: Dear brain, WTF? Those are your only exposure to any of the canon of the series, how the hell are you throwing Sol/Ky fic ideas at me already? I always knew you were out to get me. ><
8. I really need to get a copy of at least one of these games with a story mode, ASAP.
