Guilty Gear: Overture again and manga translations

ETA: SO I TOTALLY POSTED THIS LIKE A COUPLE OF HOURS TOO SOON! There are even more of these pics turning up now. So a couple of new interesting ones have been added under the cut, sourced form here and here. ^_^

Yeah, this is me ranting semi-coherently about GG: Overture again (probably getting towards spam levels by this point. I don't think I have any good excuses >.>), picking up from a couple of updates back on that last post. Relatively reliable rumour now says that this is not a prequel as people originally assumed but a game set some years after the timeline of the rest of the games. How this quite fits in with the giant multi-cliffhanger which is the near future of GGXX or which bus stop Sol accidently left the Fuuenken at I can't even guess, but those would be questions to be left until there's a little more info out in a language I can read.

Anyway, the point I'm getting to is that there are a bunch of new screenshots from the game. Wouldn't usually bother with a whole extra post about it, however, these ones do seem to feature an appearance from a character I had not been led to expect. So I'm posting this because I need to share a little punctuation.

Whoohoo! Liking the new haircut. =DDD

Even with pinneagig's help, the text on this one was a little hard to interpret out of context, but it seems to be something like "Even though the gears should have been wiped out, there have been a total of forty reports of counter examples (ie, surviving gears)."

Assorted other screencaps are floating around, but the best I could pull off any of those was some vague text about gears that were disappearing. The plot thickens! like paint thinners

Later on I'm going to remember that this is just about exactly the reaction I had to the early Advent Children screencaps, and that the finished product that time was still a massive disappointment, but I'm putting it off as long as I can manage.

In not entirely unrelated news, jaseroque and I have been having a go at translating the GG manga, mostly on the basis that it really didn't look like anyone else was ever going to do it if we didn't. Only then we found out that there *were* a couple of others out there who were starting on their own scans and translations and who wanted to know whether we might want to collaborate. So now we're going to have good quality scanslations and an extra translator to help out. ^_^ I'm not seeing too much of a downside.

The Post-apocalypse AU is currently taking over my life notebook. ^^; And I was relatively serious about working on xxxHOLiC fic now - with a little luck I may just get the first part up tonight.

Whatever else might be said of it, Guilty Gear comes with very pretty pics. Many of them. And far be it from me to discourage anyone else from looking for more of them. =3

Slightly off-topic, but I was wondering - I've been playing the copy of the original Guilty Gear you leant me, and I've noticed you don't seem to get any dialogue stuff until you get right up to the very ending sequence after you beat the final boss. However, the Internet's been telling me (with scripts and videos as pretty convincing evidence) that there should be a fair bit of dialogue from at least the second last battle, plus personalised victory quotes from other fights between characters, none of which I seem to be getting. Can you remember whether you ever got any of the same when you were playing it? I'm starting to wonder whether some stuff was somehow left out of the Australian release. :/

For such an old version of the game, it's surprisingly fun to play though. Or maybe I'm just finding it simpler without all the endless extra moves and options they've added into the series since. ^^;

I didn't realize this until now, but Sin's back says "Oath" like Sol and Ky's words.

I kinda like the haircut. Not so sure about the new dress though. XD Having looked at it a little longer, it's really not that much longer than usual - just their way of showing that some time has passed and making Ky a little harder to recognise, I guess.

I think the "Oath" is more like "Riot" and the other various brand names that show up on different characters clothes from time to time than the "Hope/Free" we see on Sol and Ky's belts.

Ah, you just reminded me I've been getting slack with keeping my own journal updated with the new Overture stuff I've been finding - most of the traffic's been going straight to guilty_gear lately. ^^; So anyhow, see here (http://community.livejournal.com/guilty_gear/250759.html) for a full version of that article, and here (http://community.livejournal.com/guilty_gear/251542.html) for more screenshots than I've seen anywhere else yet, plus me trying out some more translations. (The new character's hobby is finding new adjectives! XD)

PS: twigcollins definitely has the best Sin-origin theory I've heard yet. XDXD IT EXPLAINS EVERYTHING!
