Fun discovery of the day: Apparently, the voice actor for Ky Kiske (y'know, one of those characters from Guilty Gear I might have been obsessing about just a little bit around here lately?) has the same voice actor as Trunks from DBZ. I don't know how I didn't manage to discover this sooner.
Ten years and I can't even guess how many fandoms later after that first burst of DBZ obsession, and it's like my taste in fictional guys has not evolved at all.
XDXDXD (Oh, and did I mention XD?)

Date: 2007-09-09 03:59 am (UTC)The producer (Daisuke Ishiwatari) does Sol's voice in battle mode, and Hikaru Hanada (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com.au/encyclopedia/people.php?id=415) does his voice in story mode/the drama CDs/etc. He doesn't seem to have done many other interesting roles, so probably no-one else you'd know. They're getting someone new to voice him in Overture though, which has me slightly apprehensive. They've managed him seemlessly with two different voice actors so far, but dammit, I *like* his current voice. It would be very, very hard to improve on!

Date: 2007-09-09 04:04 am (UTC)Hott. Yeah, had a quick look at Hikaru Hanada and while I recognise a bunch of the series, nothing I've really seen. Tell you what, though, Daisuke Ishiwatari seems to get cooler every time I learn something new about him, though. :)

Date: 2007-09-09 04:16 am (UTC)He sure seems like one of those producers who'll do as many different things in the development of their series as they can get away with. So the finished product is very much *his own game* - everyone else involved just fills in bits around the edges.

Date: 2007-09-09 04:12 am (UTC)You know, I'm pretty sure Ky has enough extremely powerful yet handsome men in his life to not deal with Trunks.

Sol > Trunks?

Date: 2007-09-09 01:42 pm (UTC)The job of a voice actor has never been easy. They have to be really versatile or else they'd be out of the job.
Kusao Takeshi (Ky's VA) has done from downright wacky to downright serious and all of them were amazing. *_*

Date: 2007-09-09 01:55 pm (UTC)hot guyscharacters - and do them well, but they're mostly in the same theme. But then you suddenly find out that Lina Inverse was done by the same voice actress as Rei Ayanami, or that the guy who did Spike from Cowboy Bebop also voiced Donald Duck in Kingdom Hearts. And then your brain breaks and has to be reassembled using sticky tape and glue.I am absolutely in awe of the versatility of some of these people. Ky *and* the crazy Dad from KareKano is one pretty impressive leap. Just goes to show, these people really can act.

Date: 2007-09-09 02:39 pm (UTC)The same actress, Hayashibara Megumi, who did Rei and Lina, also did female Ranma XD
You should check out Sakuragi from Slam Dunk and have your brain break that this is the same VA for Ky XD
"ORE WA TENSAI DAAA!" VS "RIDE THE LIGHTNING!"
I've watched these animes and played the game in accordance over the years and believe me, it was a "OMG WHAT?! THAT.. THAT GUY?!" moment for me too XD
Their versatility has always left me speechless at their talent.

Wow. XD What got me most about Ky and Trunks was really the opposite - it *did* make some sort of sense, considering that they're both polite yet kickass pretty boys. On the other hand, I've never seen Slam Dunk (and maybe for the safety of my brain I should avoid it >.>), but I'm pretty sure I can imagine the kind of character. Impressive talent indeed.
And people ask me why I won't watch English dubs!

Date: 2007-09-10 10:47 am (UTC)Slam Dunk is all about basketball, and Sakuragi is one hot blooded guy who is stupid in various areas XD
English dubs sucks! D=
No, really. Accuracy is one thing, PROPER voice acting is another. D=

There are a few more half-decent video game dubs out there, but we are so very lucky they never bothered dubbing Guilty Gear. I only fear that when Overture makes it out of Japan, our luck may just run out.

Date: 2007-09-10 02:06 pm (UTC)But you may be right about Overture. *cringes* Since it's for the 360 and XBox is basically an American market console...
