Quick post to add a couple of extra links to con related photos from last weekend. We took some photos all those pipe foxes before they all went to sell on the day, one of which is up here. Lisa's got some photos of us and everyone else from the second day of the con uploaded at the end of her day one photos, if people haven't seen them already (I think this is my favourite of the three of us as the KH2 versions of the FFVII girls). Speaking of con photos, one we had printed out on Saturday of the cosplay winners on the first day wasn't taken by us - it came from here. It's worth checking out the rest of that gallery too - there are quite a few other good ones up there.

While I'm at it (and because I forgot to link to them before), she's also uploaded a lot of photos from the Final Fantasy shoot at King's Park from a couple of weeks ago (original FFVII costumes with the final weapons from the game for us, plus a whole bunch of other great assorted cosplayers). It's probably a bit late to hope we've got any chance of tracking them down at this point, but if anyone at the shoot happened to pick up a coarse comb or a bag of assorted materia marbles, please let us know - they've been missing ever since.

Hello, pardon me for bothering you. I'm not sure how I found your journal originally, but I saved the file on making the pipe fox some time ago, (they're SO ADORABLE!! SQUEE!! -ahem-) and recently decided to try making one myself. Hunting down the correct fabric is proving difficult. My local fabric stores are a little lacking, and I can't touch-and-feel things on the internet(s). Do you happen to know what the fabric you use is called, by chance? I've found refernces to "Minky" and "Velboa" and just "boa" fabrics when I search for toy-making fabrics.

If you have any further input, that would be excellent. ^_^ Or, if you happen to be taking commissions, I might consider buying one directly (though I sort of liked the challenge of making one myself).

Your cosplay is lovely, by the way. ^_^ I'm a huge YYH fan, and it's not very often that the cosplayers are any good.

Thank you in advance for your reply!

Unfortunately, the only real advice I can give people looking for toy fabric is 'Go to your local Spotlight branch and look in the toy fur section', and that doesn't apply so well to anyone who doesn't live in Australia. ^^; I can't say I've ever looked at the name tag on the fur I use either, it's just a brand of pretty generic, cheap fur. I can say that there are a lot of far more expensive ones out there (up to $50 AU/metre or more) which are better avoided because not only do they cost the earth, they're generally much harder to work with too. The kind I prefer to use is pretty thin and has a decent amount of stretch in one direction (both factors making the turning inside out part of the process much easier).

I've been meaning to do some pipe foxes for commission for ages, but I've been failing miserably to find the time for it. I wouldn't count on that changing any time soon either.

Thanks for your lovely compliments on my cosplay, and sorry I couldn't be more help.

As I live in the US, and we don't have Spotlight over here, that is probably not going to be a viable option for me, no. ^_^ But thank you for the reply!

Also, now that I poke about your journal a bit more, I must have found you via some xxxHolic fic searching. I adore your Doumeki and Watanuki!
