Other people's Superhero fic
Feb. 10th, 2008 05:49 pmIn case anyone hasn't seen,
lunargeography has posted a hilarious little snippet of her own set in the Superhero verse. (What are you doing still reading this sentence? Go click on the link already! *shooing motions*)
And now I'm entertaining the fun thought that even if he does manage to defeat his new nemesises(eses) and confront his employer about just exactly what she was thinking, it'll only be to discover that she has a perfectly logical story to explain how it was all an elaborate training exercise and absolutely all for his own good, because how else will he ever be prepared when his real nemesises show up? (Naturally, all Watanuki's complaints that there aren't any real ones will go completely ignored by everyone. XD) And if he's really unlucky, they'll even go on to become semi-rival superhero consultants who he'll then be forced to go to for help far more often than he likes (and possibly will even still prove to a bit evil and/or more willing to help him out in other ways that he most specifically didn't ask for. Or maybe that's just Watanuki being paranoid again. He'll never know.)
Er, not that I'm writing that or anything. >.>

Date: 2008-02-10 04:31 pm (UTC)Almost as though I had an ending bit for the confrontation written but, being utterly unable to imagine how the confrontation would actually play out, had to scrap it. Something along the lines of:
The Nemesis' retreat was short-lived, as he stopped in the doorframe and turned to face Watanuki. "You may have defeated us for now --"
In fact, Doumeki was fairly certain that Watanuki had been in no danger whatsoever of defeating Kuro-chan, though he had to admit that Watanuki's skill at dodging the sword had notably improved by the end of the fight. If the Nemesis and his sidekick had in fact been defeated, it was by the short-circuit in the Nemesis' Menace-o-Bot, and the resulting mayhem. Every inch of the room -- including Doumeki's 'artistically' ripped uniform was drenched in lemon-scented oil, and the Bot was still bouncing off the walls in the corner.
Whatever. The Nemesis was still talking. Did he ever shut up?
"But! I vow to you that we will return, and battle again to see who is the better man -- errr, men --"
"Like hell we will," came the rumble from the corridor, and a black-gloved hand grabbed the collar of the Nemesis' labcoat, and yanked him down the hall.
