Internet update
Internet connection continues to elude us. We finally called up iiNet last week to ask about the delay and were told that they'd phoned the mobile contact number we'd given them to tell us there was a problem but inexplicably failed to leave a message or anything useful. There was some kind of problem getting hold of the last phone number on the line at our house, which meant [livejournal.com profile] jaseroque had to go through the whole process to find out what it was again, only to discover that we had in fact gotten it right the first time and the problem was at their end. Apparently this is all Telstra's fault. Not too surprised.

Fic update
Although it's mostly written, I haven't finished editing part 27 of Ghost Stories, and since we don't have connection from home this probably means I won't be able to get it up until Monday at this rate. A bit annoying, because the last thing I want to do is lose momentum at this stage - if chapter 26 wasn't enough of a giveaway, I am very much into the climatic chapters now and that does not make for easy going. I will probably wind up making a whole post of griping rambling about how much longer the last section is turning out to be than I had counted on, but that would be better saved for some other time.

Also still need a beta reader for a piece of Discworld fic. Or, I'm hoping to need one soon, anyway.

Party/Cosplay update
There is this game. It is called The World Ends With You, and it is by Squeenix with some Nomura involvement, which can be either a good thing or a bad thing these days. I heard about it in passing when deviantArt put up an art competition based on it, which [livejournal.com profile] pinneagig entered and even managed to place in (despite never having played the game at the time). It surfaced again when [livejournal.com profile] alyssea started loudly squeeing about it and roping people in for a group cosplay project. Next thing I know, both [livejournal.com profile] pinneagig and [livejournal.com profile] jaseroque have bought copies and are spending large chunks of our Internet-less evenings camped out on our epic new couches with their DS's, busily playing away. And from odd glimpses over shoulders, what I'd originally understood to be a weird fantasy RPG inspired by even weirder Japanese fashion is starting to look like it could have a really interesting plot.

Anyway, mid way through the game we meet this terribly smug character called Joshua (guy on the left with the greyish hair) who [livejournal.com profile] jaseroque takes to bitching about in a good natured kind of way. Meanwhile, I'm noticing that, infuriating qualities aside, he seems pretty cool, and is also the last main cast member left that no-one I know is planning on cosplaying. I don't really want to take on a big new cosplay project at this point, but this costume would be the simplest one I've made in ages, and it would mean getting to join a group project with a bunch of friends, which is always good fun. So I casually mention to [livejournal.com profile] jaseroque and [livejournal.com profile] k_chan009 that maybe I'll think about cosplaying him. If I happen to find a shirt in the right colour without too much fuss and all that, since it's all very well to say "Hey, what an easy costume, I can get all those clothes down at Target!" up until you actually go looking and discover that the style and colour you need is completely out of fashion this year.

Skip a couple of days forward to Sunday where we were having our housewarming party/my late birthday celebration, when [livejournal.com profile] k_chan009 and [livejournal.com profile] alyssea turn up to present me with my birthday present: a Joshua shirt! Hand-died to the right colour and even modded to have the white lines around the edges of sleeves! For the record, this sort of thing is a very good way to make me stop dithering about whether or not I'm going to do an extra costume in a hurry. XD But maybe the really crazy part was where I found out that [livejournal.com profile] alyssea had been planning on suggesting I might want to cosplay Joshua all along. The only possible conclusion is that [livejournal.com profile] alyssea has been secretly influencing me with her Secret Mind Powers of Subliminal Suggestion all along. But she made me a shirt, so I'm not holding it against her. <3<3<3

Now I just have to actually play the game. >.>; And hope I enjoy it as much close up as I did from over other people's shoulders.

GG Translations update
I've just realised I didn't ever get around to a proper update on where things were at after the last post I made back when things were getting a bit awkward, so in case anyone glanced at the post but didn't read the comments and was wondering, everything turned to have been the result of a few lost emails and honest misunderstandings and has been sorted out much more easily than I was ever counting on, which is a huge relief. Since then, [livejournal.com profile] sethyhide has sent me the script for chapter 8 - right before I lost Internet connection after moving, which figures. Still, the good news is that we've now got the scripts for both chapters 8 and 9 just about done with, and I should be able to get them uploaded as soon as the Internet stuff is sorted out.

As for the drama CD translations I was talking about doing all those months ago, they seem to have become that project that's always hanging just off the far end of my to-do list - right now it feels like [livejournal.com profile] jaseroque and I haven't had a proper free weekend to go through them properly since around February somewhere. >< Still hoping to get to them eventually, but at the moment it looks like we'll have to put things off a little longer yet.

If anything, I posted on the Dustloop forums after I sent you the script to say that there's going to be a delay on updates to the translations due to your lack of internet.

I guess you weren't exaggerating when you said it could be a month without internet. ^^;

Thanks for that, seems like ages since I've been over at Dustloop now. BTW, I sent you an email ages back about a kanji we couldn't get a clear look at in on our dodgy scans of chapter nine. Not sure whether you got back to me about it what with all the trouble we've had with email communication lately, so I thought I'd better check with you here. ^^;

I was seriously hoping I was, but it looks like I was right about on the mark. ><

Ok, I have sent you the reply in the form of a brand new email instead of forwarding it. So I hope it doesn't get lost!

Yeah, one month is... Whoa.

I'd offer to lend you one of our copies, but apparently there's only one save point on each and Lisa and Shasta want to be able to hold on to their saved games when they're done playing. So we've already got two in the house, and I'm still going to have to buy my own if I want to be allowed to play it. >< I suspect it's all a really sneaky way for the producers to make everyone buy their own copy (and it seems to be working too).
